Vietnam beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in the third-round match at the Junior Davis Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Wednesday.

Tat Thai Nguyen won 6-0, 6-4 over Kavisha Ratnayaka in the first singles match.

Tu Le Khanh Duy lost 5-7, 6-1, 2-6 to Chaturya Nilawaeera in the second singles.

Nguyen and Tran Quang Truong defeated Nilawaeera and Ratnayaka 6-4, 3-6, 10-2 in the doubles match.

In the next round, the winner of group D will face Maldives.

Meanwhile, in the Junior Fed Cup event, Vietnam lost to the hosts.

Nguyen Minh Thuy Hang was defeated 0-6, 3-6 by Savini Jayasuriya, and Nguyen Thi Phuong lost 1-6, 0-6 to Anjalika Kurera in the singles match. Hang and Tran Diem Ngoc were beaten 0-6, 2-6 by Kurera and Oneli Perera in the doubles.

Hang and Ngoc stood second in Group A and will face Singapore in the next round.
