Twelve Philippine artists to perform in Vietnam

Twelve artists from the Philippines will perform in Vietnam from August 16 - 20 under the framework of the Philippines Cultural Days in Vietnam 2016, as part of activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Philippines diplomatic ties (July 12, 1976-2016).

Specifically, the arts troupe will entertain Hanoi audiences at the Hanoi Opera House at 8pm on August 17 before performing at Lam Son Theatre in Thanh Hoa city, Thanh Hoa province the following night.

The shows will feature classical pieces, including Fantasy for flute and piano performed by Antonio Maigue (flute) and Gabriel Allan Paguirigan (piano); and Allegro con Brio for string quartet performed by Sara Maria Gonzales (violin 1),Christian Tan (violin 2), Kim Carl Mirandilla Ng (viola) and Arnold Josue (violoncello).

Works by Philippine composers will also be performed, including Preludio y Romanza for Violoncello and Piano, Antonio Molina (1894-1980); Sa Kabukiran for voice, flute and piano (Manuel Velez); and Sa Nayon Ko for voice, flute and piano (Felipe P. De Leon, Sr. (1912-1992).

During the programmes, audiences will also enjoy Vietnamese traditional pieces performed by Vietnamese artists.

The shows will be open to invitees only. Admission tickets are not being sold.
